Wrongful Death

The loss of a loved one as a result of the mistake of another (negligence) is always devastating, emotional, and stressful. While no amount of money will bring your loved one back, or compensate you for your loss, when death results due to another’s fault, Colorado law allows the heirs and next of kin a claim for money damages; this is called a "wrongful death claim."

Common causes of Wrongful Death include: car, truck and motorcycle crashes, drunk drivers, bicycle and pedestrian accidents, medical and dental malpractice, construction accidents, plane crashes, and defective products (product liability). A wrongful death lawsuit is brought against the person or company whose fault caused the wrongful death, and will include claims for:

Loss of income which would have been earned by your loved one

Associated financial losses (medical bills, burial and funeral expenses)

Loss of the advice, care, comfort and companionship of your loved one

The insurance company of the person who caused your loved one’s death will have an attorney to represent its insured’s best interests; and so should you.
